Hi, I’m Alex!

guide . curator . ideator . space holder

Guided by heart, truth, joy and a dash of magic.

I'm Alex — a certified Wayfinder Life Coach, alignment guide, and multi-passionate creator and curator, rooted (for now) in Oakland, California: the city that made me, and the one I eventually found my way back to.

My work lives at the intersection of intuition, embodiment, slow and cyclical living, and navigating the pathless path. I support people in reconnecting with their true nature — which, I've come to understand, is inseparable from nature itself.

Where I come from

I grew up in Oakland with an architect father and a mother who boldly pivoted from occupational therapist to interior design entrepreneur. From them I inherited an understanding that creativity isn't merely a talent — it's a way of being. A willingness to look at what exists and ask: what else is possible here?

After eleven years building a life in Seattle, I took my own medicine. I leaped — traded comfort for an open question, and spent the better part of two years living nomadically between California, Idaho, Denmark, and England, chasing a vision of a life that felt more wholly mine.

Those two years were the most destabilizing, and the most clarifying, of my life. I lived inside the liminal space I now hold for others — learned what it actually feels like to not know, to be mid-crossing with no visible shore, to release a version of yourself that no longer fits and wait, in the in-between, for the next one to arrive. I sat with uncertainty long enough to stop trying to solve for it — and found, on the other side, something steadier than certainty. Trust. And from that place, my life began to flow with more ease.

Eventually, the path curved home. Back to Oakland, back to my roots, back to myself. The return felt as significant as the departure — maybe more so. It always does.

Why I call myself a guide, not a coach

I'm a certified Wayfinder Life Coach, trained through Martha Beck's ICF-accredited program — a method built on integrity (aka: holistic alignment between the inner and outer ecosystem), imagination, and the body's wise inner knowing. But day to day, I call myself a guide, and the distinction matters to me.

Coach, as traditionally defined in the sports world, assumes you're working from a deficit — define the gap between you and a goal, build the plan to close it. Guide assumes you already know. I'm not here for the performance question — I'm here for the what is my reason for being question. The is this the relationship for me question. The everything looks great on paper, so why does something feel missing question.

A coach drives the session. A guide stewards it, in partnership with you, and lets it arrive somewhere. A coach hands you a plan. A guide hands you back your own knowing.

“I trust her to care for the weird and wild places the mind will go. And her questions in the journey are always revelatory.”

What I believe

We are nature. Not separate from it. When we slow down, accessing quiet and stillness, and attune to natural rhythms — the seasons, the body, the cycles of the earth — a clarity becomes available that the busy mind can't typically reach.

The messy middle isn't a detour from the path. It is the path.

Living joyfully is our birthright.

Finding beauty in the everyday isn't a luxury. It's a necessity.

Serendipities are a little wink from the universe.

There are no coincidences.

What I value

  • Slowness over speed

  • Intuition and inner wisdom over prescription

  • Spaciousness over plans and structure

  • Nature as teacher, not backdrop

  • Ritual and ceremony as a part of each day

  • Community and connection to hold us in the ebb and flow of life

A few of my favorite things

Salt water cold plunging · farmers markets · dancing to afrobeats · Copenhagen · synchronicity · floral arranging · rituals · eating by candlelight, no matter the time of day · making ceramics on the wheel · persimmons · locally-sourced, hand-made, small-batch everything · wintering · photography · ice cream on a rainy day · my grandpa's motto, "it never hurts to ask." · the wisdom that you can't say the wrong thing to the right person

An invitation

If something in these words made you exhale — if you felt a subtle yes somewhere in your body — I'd love to connect. That recognition is usually where the work begins.
