Connecting you to the rhythms of nature and your own true nature.
Our story
It grew out of two years spent living between places — California, Idaho, Denmark, England — with no fixed address and no map for what came next.
One of the places I returned to frequently was a farm in Surrey, the English countryside, where topics of permaculture and land regeneration were ever-present. I went on daily trail walks. Meditated. Talked to trees, receiving their wisdom back. Got my hands in the dirt. I watched the entire arc of a living thing — from seed, to sprout, to something whole enough to harvest — which I've come to believe is one of the most satisfying processes a person can witness and take part in. When the plants would bear fruit and vegetables, I'd go out barefoot to gather them for meals. I made flower arrangements daily, just from what was blooming.
Somewhere in that rhythm, I noticed I could hear myself more clearly. Insights I hadn't had access to before started to surface. Something deep inside me — an undeniable part of me that lay dormant for years — finally woke up.
One reflection kept arising alongside this awakening: how far modern life - particularly for those of us having grown up in cities - had pulled us from the rhythms that once held us — the seasons, the soil, the slow work of hands. We'd optimized so much, and somehow felt more disconnected than ever — from purpose, from wellbeing, from each other.
Living differently than what I'd been taught to call "normal," walking a path with no map, I started asking different questions: what would it look like to build something that moved at nature's pace instead of the market's? Something made in collaboration, not mass production? What becomes possible when people learn to move at the pace of the season they're in, where their food comes from, how to hear their own intuition again?
Those questions are still unfolding. herth is what happens when I stop trying to answer them all at once, and start building the container to explore them instead.
The name
herth is a weaving together of her, hearth, and earth.
Her is the generative, cyclical, nurturing force of the Great Mother and natural rhythms — an energy every person is welcome to participate in, create from, and return to.
Hearth is the historic gathering space in a home — the fire around which we've cooked, warmed ourselves, and told stories for as long as there have been homes. A place to find comfort, community, connection.
Earth is the ground beneath us — the soil, the raw clay, the plants and materials from which life is fostered and made possible.
What herth is for
herth invites a homecoming — to self, to earth, to community — through every threshold we cross.
Before we built schedules and digital spaces, we gathered around the fire. We knew the soil, honored the seasons, and recognized that we are not separate from nature — we are nature. herth is a recognition — and a return — to that knowing.
Our offerings are spacious and unhurried, weaving together ancient wisdom, natural wisdom, everyday beauty, magic, and wonder. Some are objects, made in small runs with small-scale makers, creators, farmers and artisans, each one honoring the hands that shaped it and the land it came from. Others are shared time — a walk, a session, a gathering. All with the same intention to encourage a slowing down, dropping into presence and connecting with a feeling of aliveness.
